U17 Women's World Cup starts in Jordan

The opening group games of the U17 WWC took place today. The tournament is the first FIFA women's tournament to take place in the Middle East.

The tournament has made history too by being the first major tournament where hijab-wearing players have managed to qualify and play wearing a hijab.

The opening Grp A game of the tournament produced a flood of goals: Mexico 5 v 0 New Zealand.

In Grp B Venezuela were beaten by the odd goal by Germany: 1 v2

A 5 goal thriller took place in the other Grp B game: Cameroon 2 v 3 Canada.

The hosts Jordan played an on fire Spain team: jordan 0 v 6 Spain. 

Spain's Lorena Navarro scored 5 of Spains goals equalling the most goals scored record by a player in one match at the U17 WWC set by Nigeria's Chinwendo Ihezuo in 2012.

Groups C and D kick off their tournaments tomorrow with;

Grp C: England v Korea DPR, Nigeria v Brazil and

Grp D: USA v Paraguay, Ghana v Japan
