A 2-0 home win against defending champions Chelsea gave Manchester City WFC their first WSL 1 title, with a game to spare.
The win came from a deflected headed goal by Jill Scott on 34 mins and a penalty by Toni Duggan on 50 mins. Chelsea were unable to break down City's defence. There was no surprise there as City have only conceded 3 goals in the league this season, scoring 35.
City are worthy champions being undefeated in the league, having won 13 of the games played so far and drawing 2.
Goalscorer Toni Duggan told BBC Sport "It's amazing to be WSL Champions. It's something I've always wanted and a dream has come true."
More silverware could be on its way to City's trophy cabinet as they play Birmingham City Ladies in the final of the FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup on Sunday 2nd October.
City will aim to retake the Continental Tyres trophy they won in 2014. If extra incentive is needed then a win would mean a league and cup double this season!
