January is the month that fans, pundits, coaches and players look back at the calendar year just ended and pick who they think was the best player, team or coach.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) awarded the title of 2019 Best African Player of the Year to Senegal and Liverpool's Sadio Mane. The winner was chosen by the managers and captains of the 54 African national teams. The accolade stays with a Red as Mohamed Salah picked up the accolade in 2017 and 2018!
The winner of the Best African Women's Player of the year 2019 went to Asisat Oshoala of Nigeria and FC Barcelona Women. She fought off stiff competition from Cameroonian Ajara Nchout and South Africa's Thembi Kgatlana, to lift the trophy for the fourth time.
FA England Awards is voted for via an online poll by England fans which saw Jordan Henderson of Liverpol pick up the Senior Men's Player of the Year Award 2019. Liverpool FC really are sweeping up awards across continents, it shows what a fantastic year their players had in 2019, with promise of more to come at the end of the 2019/20 season.
The winner of the Senior Women's Player of the Year award 2019 went to Lucy Bronze of Olympique Lyonnais. It was her second award, having been voted top England player by fans back in 2015.
