Man City Women beat WFC Zvezda-2005 of Russia 2-0 in their first ever UEFA Women's Champions League match. Jill Scott netted the first on 34 mins follwed by a Lucy Bronze goal in injury time.
The round of 32 Champions League win comes after City sealed the FA WSL1 title on 25th September and the Continental Tyres Cup on 2nd October. The team will be brimming with confidence for their Champions League return leg on 12th October.
Man City were the only team from England and Scotland in the round of 32 that registered a win. Chelsea Ladies 3-0 defeat to VfL Wolsburg and Hibernian Ladies 6-0 defeat at the hands of FC Bayern Munchen was followed by Glasgow City FC 1-0 away loss to Eskilstuna United.
Return legs of all matches will be played on 12th or 13th October.
